The Whovians rejoice as a new Doctor Who game, The Edge of Reality, will arrive on PC and current and next-gen consoles in 2021.
Developer Maze Theory, in association with BBC Studios, has revealed Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality, a reimagined version of the 2019 virtual reality title from the studio Doctor Who: The Edge of Time.
The Edge of Reality will offer a “fascinating new first-person adventure” and will feature the Thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker. Additionally, Thirteen will also be joined by the Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, as the story continues from the events of The Edge of Time.
New game modes, monsters, and worlds are announced, including Cybermen, Daleks, and Weeping Angels. The player will assist the Doctor by wielding the Sonic Screwdriver to defeat a “universe-spanning threat” in a continuation of the story beats experienced in The Edge of Time.
Edge of Reality is being built “with current and next-gen consoles in mind” and is currently confirmed for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Maze Theory has yet to explain how the VR game has been adjusted for standard console controls, but expect a puzzle-heavy first-person adventure.
In other Doctor Who news, it was recently revealed that Christopher Eccleston will be returning as the Ninth Doctor as part of a new audio series.
