EDEN HAZARD was injured when Real Madrid suffered a night of terror against Alavés.
Things started badly for Zinedine Zidane’s side and only got worse in a 2-1 loss at home.
Former Arsenal forward Lucas Pérez scored a penalty in the fifth minute, before Hazard limped off in the 28th minute.
Real thought he should have had a penalty in the incident.
Then it got even worse early in the second half when Hazard’s former Chelsea teammate Thibaut Courtois gifted Alavés with a second goal.
The Belgian goalkeeper passed directly to Joselu, who hit an empty net from 25 meters.
Casemiro scored in the 86th minute to attempt the comeback, but it was too little, too late for Real Madrid.
In just his fifth start to the season, the Belgian superstar was injured when he was hit inside the box.
No penalty was awarded for the tackle and to add insult to injury to Zinedine Zidane, Hazard had to be withdrawn immediately.
The Chelsea legend could be seen limping with a frustrated expression on his face as he made his way to the bench.
It was unclear what Hazard injured.
Hazard has had a miserable time since moving to the Spanish capital in a deal worth up to £ 150 million in the summer of 2019.
He missed 24 games last season when Zidane’s team won the Spanish title, but he vowed to return this season and get back to his best form.
However, his attempt to get back to his best, and get a consistent streak of games, has been hampered by injuries and illnesses.
He first suffered a thigh injury in preseason training that forced him to miss the start of the season.
Hazard then tested positive for Covid-19 which kept him out for two weeks earlier in the month.
Now Hazard suffered this latest setback, although the severity of the injury has yet to be determined.
The first reports in Spain say that Hazard had “discomfort” in the muscles of the right leg, and the tests will be carried out in the coming days.
In fact, Hazard has already missed more than FOUR GAMES (36) in just 17 months than (eight) in seven YEARS at Chelsea.
