One of the most unique aspects of the PlayStation 5 is the DualSense controller. With advanced haptics and adaptive triggers, developers can leverage DualSense to create exciting new gaming experiences. While it was already announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War would take advantage of the controller, it has now been revealed that each weapon has been individually tuned to feel different on the DualSense.
In an interview with Gamespot, Black Ops Cold War lead game designer Tony Flame gave an idea of the DualSense and said: “The DualSense controller is quite impressive. It has a new haptic feedback so when you pull the trigger it shakes, every time you fire a gun there is a little motor that fires all the time. There is a sensitivity on the trigger that represents the pressure of the trigger on a real gun. ”
According to Flame, “All that [the adaptive triggers and haptics] has been adjusted in game for each individual weapon. So it’s a lot to take in, but it’s pretty impressive, and it gives the weapons a feel like they’ve never had before. “
While this may raise concerns for some when it comes to the competitive aspect of the game, especially considering that the game offers crossover play, Flame assured fans that “in general, with the next generation, we had to make sure that in all scopes, people would have a fair experience, no matter what platform they are on. “
While it will certainly be exciting to test the new DualSense and its haptics / triggers, both can be turned off or adjusted at the system level, ensuring a fair and equitable experience.
