It hasn’t been long since Codemasters announced the release of the newest installment of the DIRT racing game. Slated for release on a wide number of platforms by the end of the year, DIRT 5, as it’s called, has its full launch trailer for PS4 this week.
If you’re more of an Xbox fan, don’t worry: those who buy the game for Xbox One will also be able to update it for free for Xbox Series X. DIRT 5 is also available for PC, but it’s obviously an update. The option is not necessary in this case. Stadia players should get the game in 2021.
So what is DIRT 5 all about? Like most of the games of its lineage, the new installment comes with the option to play for one or several players. In case you are a fan of online gambling, you should expect to race with up to 12 players; if not, an offline mode is available with a split screen game for up to 4 players.
Based on available information, the game offers access to 70 routes from around the world and there are 8 race modes available. For the first time in the DIRT series, the single-player game mode is featured as a narrative-based career mode, placing the player in opposition to a veteran racer from the game.
As for the vehicles you’ll get, expect the usual add-on from BMW (M1 Procar Rally and M2 Competition), Ford (including Mustang and F-150), and exotics, like the Ariel Nomad, Blitzworld Beast, or Exomotive Exocet. .
