Digimon Survive, the new strategy RPG featuring everyone’s favorite digital monsters, will be delayed once again and is expected to launch in 2021.
This disappointing update came straight from Digimon Survive game producer Habu Kazumasa, who said that current global conditions have changed the game’s development time, prompting the team to push the release forward until next spring.
Digimon Survive was originally announced in 2018, with a tentative release date sometime in 2019. Then, in July 2019, it was announced that the game would be delayed until 2020. And now, it seems that this game is expected to be released in 2021..

For the uninitiated, Digimon Survive is a tactical remake of the usual Digimon RPG conventions. Players must team up Digimon against opponents in grid-based strategy battles, kind of like Fire Emblem meets Digimon.
The game employs a visual novel style of storytelling, interspersed with the turn-based battles that occur in between. The story revolves around a group of teenagers who stumble upon Digimon and the digital world during a school trip.
There will be multiple battle modes as well as story choices that the player must make that may or may not result in multiple endings or even the death of certain characters. It’s definitely a more mature version of the franchise, in line with the tone that Digimon Tri and Last Evolution Kizuna introduced.
Hopefully, Digimon Survive will finally release in Spring 2021 for Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4.
