The upcoming remastered edition of Diablo II will allow players to pick up right where they left off.

According to IGN Middle East, producer Matthew Cederquist enthusiastically advised Diablo II fans to keep their saves. They can be imported into the remastered edition as if they were created yesterday.

“When we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work, so we plugged it in and it worked! So yeah, your local single-player saves will carry over, ”Cederquist explained.

This feature will only work with the PC version of the game. The Diablo II remaster will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Switch. However, you will not be able to transfer saved files from PC to consoles.

But there are many reasons to start over. Diablo II Resurrected is a complete visual overhaul of the original game. It will allow you to play with multiple characters, with cross progression between them. For anyone interested in playing Diablo II as it was when it was first released, there is also a switch to switch between legacy and remastered graphics.

This is the second time that fans will have a chance to try out a modern take on the dungeon crawling franchise. For the first Diablo title, Blizzard and GOG.com revived it and offered support for Battle.net matchmaking and a version optimized for Windows 10.

Diablo II Resurrected will be released later this year. There is still no specific date on when to expect it. With save functionality in mind for PC users, it’s a good idea to start looking for those files now.
