Yesterday we reported that Apple notified eligible developers of the imminent launch of the App Store Small Business Program. According to some developers, Apple is already charging a lower commission for App Store sales.
The App Store Small Business program was announced last month as a promise to reduce the App Store commission rate from 30% to 15%. This percentage is charged to developers for every sale made through the App Store or in-app purchase.
Developers making up to $ 1 million a year on the App Store are eligible for this new program, while top developers will continue to pay Apple a 30% commission. As the developers said 9to5Mac, are already seeing the changes to revenue reports on App Store Connect. The change was expected to go live on January 1, 2021.
Marvis App developer Aditya Rajveer has noticed that he is now getting paid $ 5.09 for an app that costs $ 5.99, which is now okay with the lower commission of 15%. David Hodge also shared a similar report with us today, so it appears that Apple has decided to implement the new lower commission from the App Store a few days ahead of schedule.
