Destiny 2 fans have been wondering if Bungie would close out the arrivals season with another live event, given that A) we had one last season with the destruction of the Almighty and B) we have four giant pyramids floating ominously over four zones. that are about to be eliminated from the game.
Well, the cat came out of the bag, although it seems by accident, and had to be confirmed later by Bungie’s most authoritative source, Luke Smith himself.
Yesterday, an official email was sent from Bungie that read the following:
“Be sure to watch the season finale and see the conclusion before the launch of Beyond Light. To learn more about what’s to come, read the new This Week at Bungie now. “
That sure sounded like it was revealing a season finale “finale” event, and yet it was linked to the TWAB, which wasn’t really saying anything about it.
This made Luke Smith ring a few hours later:
So yes, there is one, and although Smith is not being super specific, this is what I’m extracting from this:
“A Little Event” – Something smaller than Almighty destruction and crash landing.
“A little time to relax in the Tower” – So nothing on any of the planets will disappear, and this reinforces my theory that this may be the Traveler who heals himself before Beyond Light.
“Before the lights go out” – Everyone is actually reading about the capitalization of the “lights” there, but actually what this part tells me is the time, which looks like it will be close to when the servers go down during 14 hours on Monday night.
Before any of this happened, players noted that Bungie had said that on Monday at 7pm ET, players will be removed from activities and asked to download a small update before logging back in. This implies to me that they may be loading at the live event. at the last minute so it wouldn’t leak completely beforehand. So whatever is happening, it can start right then. So in short, plan to be in the Tower sometime between 7pm ET when this update occurs and 10pm ET when the servers are down. I don’t know if the event is literally three hours long or it could be the last thirty seconds before the server shuts down, but this is what we know now.
I’m glad you are doing something, however small. Considering all the things in the game that happen with disappearing zones, it seemed like a live event was inevitable. If Luke Smith is underestimating it as a huge surprise, I don’t know, but he would keep expectations in check. My level of expectation at this time = seeing the Traveler heal or seeing a pyramid finally appear on earth. But we will see, and we will know for sure in a few more days.
Okay, let’s get back to solving that ARG …
