The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen receives in his office the new representative of UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) in Ethiopia, Dennia Gayle.
On the occasion, Demeke thanked UNFPA for providing support to Ethiopian refugee women in Sudan.
He addressed the representative’s concerns about the situation in Tigray and the government’s guarantee to protect civilians through the law enforcement process.
He said the government has quickly concluded the operation and has continued with the rehabilitation and restoration of infrastructure that had been destroyed by the fugitives.
He has also informed him about the inclusive humanitarian aid that the federal government is providing to the people of Tigray.
According to Dennia Gayle, UNFPA plans to extend its support to women and children in the Tigray region.
UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency that supports women for safe childbirth, among other things.
