The cat is out of the bag.
Wow. Now that it was a week, right? We had a last minute delay on Cyberpunk, more controversy over CD Projekt and crunch, a last minute delay on Destruction AllStars, embargo lifts for the Xbox Series X, S and PlayStation 5 unboxing, the departure of the Halo Infinite director from the problematic project and, for the first time, a clear idea of how big third-party games will run on next-gen consoles.
Lots to talk about during this week’s Eurogamer Next Gen News Cast! As usual, I am joined by news editor Tom Phillips and reporter Emma Kent to discuss the news of the week, and there’s a lot to get across. It’s a packed show!
First, a note: This week we discussed the controversial investment call from CD Projekt boss Adam Kiciński, in which he described the Cyberpunk 2077 crisis as “not so bad.” After we recorded the show, Kiciński apologized for his comment. In an email to staff, shared on Twitter By Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Kiciński said it had been “degrading and damaging”, and that his words were not only “unfortunate” but “absolutely bad.” So if you’re wondering why we didn’t mention that apology, it’s because it came right after we finished filming. But we think our conversation about the Cyberpunk delay, CD Projekt’s crisp culture, and Kiciński’s initial comments are still valid and worth sharing with all of you.
Oh, and watch out for a cameo from Tom’s cat.
