Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed again, it probably didn’t escape your attention, but the reason the game was retained is quite enlightening and undoubtedly frustrating for PC gamers.
According to CD Projekt co-CEO Adam Kiciński, the delay with Cyberpunk 2077 has been caused by issues related to final optimization for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
PC Gamer reports that Kiciński elaborated the following on the delay: “The game is PC-ready and works very well on next-gen consoles, and could ship on the scheduled date on those platforms.
“However, although the game has been certified in the current generation by both Sony and Microsoft, some final optimization processes for such a massive and complex game require a little extra time.”
That extra time is another three weeks, by the way, if you missed the news yesterday. Cyberpunk 2077 was scheduled to be released on November 19, three weeks today as it happens, but now it won’t be out until December 10. So the wait time has doubled to six weeks, in other words (and don’t forget, the game was originally supposed to be out in April 2020).
Broken promises
Cyberpunk 2077 is, of course, a complex title as already mentioned, and it’s being produced on a host of different platforms, so it’s not exactly a surprise to see additional lag. That doesn’t change the fact that this has still been very disappointing for many people, of course.
Kiciński also apologized to the players: “I would like to offer an apology for breaking our promise and not trusting you. We underestimate the time required for final processes. “
Hopefully we will not see any more landslides with the new date of December 10, in which Kiciński said that “maybe he was not comfortable, but safe”.
At least PC gamers have gotten some good news as of late, with the reveal of the system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077, which are not demanding, at least not in terms of the minimum specification required to play the game.
