(Pocket-lint) – The PlayStation 5 isn’t getting any easier to buy just yet, based on most people’s experiences in recent weeks, but some retailers are finally looking for different ways to organize the restocking chaos.
It’s kicking off a new raffle system, the PS5 Priority Pass, which allows people to enter for a chance to go to a Currys store to purchase the console when it becomes available. In part, this sounds like a way to ensure hundreds don’t show up when closings are over and brick-and-mortar stores are restocking the console.
People can enter the Currys website here, and if they win, they will be emailed a code that will be valid for 72 hours. That will be your window to go to the store that has been assigned to you and complete your purchase.
All of this will start from April 12, when UK government guidelines on leisure and shopping are relaxed to allow people to go to shops like this.
This sounds like a solid enough way to try and prevent resellers from taking away all of the PS5 stock, although the fact that it’s in person is the real factor here. This is not an online raffle so sadly it seems likely that the website restocking issue will persist.
