MANILA – The Philippine Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,396 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total number in the country to 383,113.
The DOH said an additional 17,727 patients were recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 348,760. The death toll rose to 7,238 after 17 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH added.

NEW DELHI – Local government minister for the southern state of Tamil Nadu, R Doraikkannu, passed away weeks after testing positive for COVID-19, authorities said Sunday.
Doraikkannu, 72, who was a local agriculture minister, died Saturday night at a private hospital in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.
The minister, according to officials, had tested positive for COVID-19 on October 13 and underwent treatment since then.

NEW DELHI – India’s COVID-19 count reached 8,184,082 on Sunday, as 46,963 new cases were detected across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the latest data released by the federal Ministry of Health.
With 470 dead since Saturday morning, the total death toll in the country from the pandemic reached 122,111, the ministry’s data added.

BOGOTÁ – The number of COVID-19 infections in Colombia reached 1,074,184, with 11,033 new cases registered in the last 24 hours, Colombian health authorities said Saturday.
Meanwhile, 179 more deaths were reported, bringing the death toll nationwide to 31,314, authorities said, adding that so far 969,230 people have recovered from the disease.

BUENOS AIRES – Argentina reported 211 more deaths from COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the national count to 31,002, according to the Ministry of Health.
The ministry also reported 9,745 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the national count to 1,166,924, including 973,939 recoveries.

WELLINGTON – New Zealand reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
The two new cases were both international returnees who arrived in October. Both cases were detected during routine testing and isolation processes and were now in the Auckland quarantine facility. There were no new community cases in the country, the ministry said.

SEOUL – South Korea reported 124 more COVID-19 cases as of Sunday compared to 24 hours ago, bringing the total number of infections to 26,635.
