Google has released Chrome v88 for desktop, which includes some major changes.
The browser will now check if your saved passwords have been compromised, a standard feature for most dedicated password managers. If it finds a compromised password, it will provide you with an alert to change it to something more secure.
v88 also adds the tab search feature that was previously in v87 on Chrome OS. If you have too many tabs open, you can use this to find any of the open tabs. However, the feature is not available yet and must be enabled by activating a Chrome flag, which can be found at chrome: // flags / # enable-tab-search.
The browser also slightly improves support for dark mode in Windows, by darkening the scroll bars on its settings pages if you have dark mode enabled in Windows. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only place where it does this, and actual web pages, even those that have a dark mode, still use the old scroll bar.
Some things have also been removed. There is no more support for Adobe Flash, as you would expect. The browser is also getting rid of FTP support, so you can no longer open FTP pages within the browser. Support for macOS Yosemite will also be removed. Lastly, v88 also removes support for Legacy Browser Support (LBS).
