Cheap new Beats ‘Flex’ headphones released after iPhone event as Apple announces it will stop providing them for free

Beats has launched new “Flex” headphones following the iPhone 12 launch event.

The cheapest headphones come after parent company Apple said it would stop providing headphones in the box of its new iPhones. The move would help reduce its environmental impact, Apple said, noting that many users still have old headphones or have switched to wireless listening.

Apple didn’t make any connections between the iPhones and the new Beats headphones, but noted that they are the cheapest Beats product and that it had technology that would allow it to easily connect to its other products.

“I am excited to announce that Beats is launching its most affordable product yet, packed with Apple’s incredible audio technology,” said Oliver Schusser, Beats Vice President, Apple Music and International Content, in a statement. “This will allow even more music fans around the world to experience the quality of sound and design that Beats products are known for.”

Beats Flex headphones cost £ 49 or $ 49.

They come in four different colors: Beats Black, Citrus Yellow, Smoke Gray, and Flame Blue.

The black and yellow version is available to order now on Apple’s website and will go on sale starting October 21, with wider availability starting in November. The gray and blue colors will arrive in “early 2021”.

The Flex headphones include the W1 chip that was first introduced with the AirPods and allows the headphones to be easily paired and then switched between different Apple products. Unlike the AirPod line, and even some other Beats headphones, they are charged with USB-C, rather than Lightning.

Rumors have repeatedly suggested that Apple is ditching the Beats brand or integrating its features into the Apple lineup. But he continues to launch new products under the brand and has often affirmed his commitment to it.
