It’s fair to say that Cesc Fábregas has shared a locker room with the best players in the world during his brilliant career, and has lifted the lid on his favorites.
The Spaniard first entered the scene as a fresh-faced midfielder at Arsenal 17 years ago, joining the Gunners’ youth ranks from Barcelona and helping Londoners win the 2005 FA Cup
He finally returned to the Spanish giants in 2011, won a La Liga title and also starred in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup wins in its first season.
Fabregas returned to English soil three years later, this time with Chelsea, and played a crucial role in both Blues Premier League title successes before joining Monaco in January last year.
And, in a revealing Twitter Q&A on Monday, Fabregas was asked to name the best player in each club he played for.
He replied: “Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Eden Hazard (Chelsea) and Radamel Falcao (Monaco)”.
Fabregas was also asked if he preferred to play at Highbury or the Emirates, the two Arsenal stadiums he called home, before returning to Spain.
He said, “One of the hardest questions I’ve ever seen around here … what about you? Highbury was so special … But The Emirates felt right at home right away.”
Before moving to Chelsea, Manchester United also wanted the 32-year-old.
So why didn’t a movement materialize?
In another response, Fábregas revealed: “It was not meant to be.”
Instead, he made a second move to London and went on to form an excellent partnership with Spain’s international teammate Diego Costa.
And, when asked what his favorite assist was at Chelsea, he concluded: “Half volleyed Diego Costa away in Swansea who missed … I will never forgive him for that one.”
