The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a two-month social media campaign today (December 30) under the phrase #RisingEthiopia and targeting all Ethiopians and those of Ethiopian origin.
The campaign aims to promote Ethiopia’s good qualities and mitigate the effects of the misguided media narrative that has dominated the air in recent months.
In addition to mobilizing Ethiopians living abroad for the common good, the campaign will also present Ethiopia’s investment potential to the international community and consolidate Ethiopia as an emerging tourism destination.
Key themes will anchor the campaign in different phases, including #Tourism, Culture, #DiasporaNegocios, Investments and flagship projects and charities.
The first phase of the campaign (December 30 to January 24) will begin today with a webinar and showcase Ethiopia’s tourism potential and attractions in various activities.
The final phase of the campaign (EthiopiaGiving Week) will mobilize the public to raise funds for some iconic projects, including GERD and charitable causes.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will carry out the campaign in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Tourism, the Ethiopian Investment Commission, stakeholders, all Ethiopians and the media.
Note: We are livestreaming today’s online opening discussion on the campaign through our Facebook pages in Amharic and English.
