How do you improve an already amazing online multiplayer experience? Adding more weapons, of course!
With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launching next week, Warzone will receive an update in the form of a larger arsenal, Activision has confirmed.
We have everything you need to know about this update right here!
Black Ops and Modern Warfare
We recently brought you the news that Warzone now allows you to choose between a Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare skin.
Now the CoD developers have confirmed that Warzone will soon have the largest weapon library to choose from in the history of the series.
A blog post on the official Call of Duty website details the combo character progression system. This covers the three most recent CoDs; Modern war, cold war and war zone.
What this means is that the weapons you unlock in Modern Warfare and Cold War will be available to use in Warzone. This includes different variants of primary and secondary weapon blueprints.
As the Warzone seasons progress, more weapons will automatically become available. This means that players will unlock new weapons just by going online in Warzone.
The age-old problem of having to choose between current and old weapons will be a thing of the past.
Can players use Cold War weapons in Modern Warfare?
In short, no.
The fusion of the different CoDs is not universal, there will be no cross between Modern Warfare and Cold War.
This, Activision explained, is because Modern Warfare’s weaponry is too advanced for the Cold War scenario in the ’80s.
To be fair, that’s a legitimate reason, it would be a very jarring experience. Furthermore, it would also make the Cold War and Modern Warfare multiplayer experiences too similar.
You will see some indirect crossovers though, as weapons like the trusty AK-47 are available in both games anyway.
This continues to be a game-changer and something that truly allows CoD to be far above its competition.
Release date
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Series X, and Windows PC on November 13.
