Bunna Bank of Ethiopia focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility – New Business Ethiopia

In order to proactively engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in an organized manner, Bunna International Bank of Ethiopia said it is preparing a CSR policy.

This is stated by Mulugeta Alemayehu, chief executive of Bunna International Bank, who briefed reporters at his office in Addis Ababa this morning. “Until now we have been reacting to the needs of various groups that seek our corporate social responsibility services. We are now drafting a new policy, which will allow us to proactively engage in corporate social responsibilities, ”he said.

For the past five years, Bunna has been actively involved in CSR activities by funding various development-related projects by government and non-governmental organizations.

Among Bunna’s CSR activities mentioned by the CEO is Birr’s 10 million donation to the “Gebeta Legehager” project recently launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to build three tourist destinations that are located in different parts of the country. He also mentioned funding of one million Birr for the school feeding program.

In a related development, the CEO also claimed that the Bank opened 66,828 new bank accounts with a total savings of 836 million Birr after the country introduced new banknotes a month ago. Established 11 years ago, Bunna International Bank currently serves 245 of its branches across the country.
