The German luxury automaker has released a sneak peek at one of next year’s most popular super sedans – the BMW M5 CS. While the current M5 Competition has been leading the charge with its breakneck performance, the firm has shown there is more room for improvement as it teases the upcoming M5 CS ahead of its arrival in early 2021.
For the record, the BMW ‘Competition’ trims are the upgraded versions of the regular models, while the ‘CS’ versions are a different ballgame entirely with their groundbreaking performance.

The new BMW M5 CS will be powered by the same 4.4-liter V8 biturbo engine that is now tuned to deliver a maximum output of 635 hp. While the 10hp increase may not seem like enough, the car has also gone through a weight reduction treatment as it is now lighter by 70kg, which helps in overall power-to-weight figures. The transmission option includes an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic unit and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system that enables 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD driving modes.

While the teaser shows only limited information, it does reveal some cool bits, like the gold-colored forged aluminum wheels with carbon ceramic brakes and red calipers. On top of that, the car can also be seen sporting a few more gold bronze accents surrounding the iconic kidney grille. It also sports cool-looking yellow motorsport-style headlamps and its new black body visor contrasts with its gold bronze accents.
While the official performance figures are not known at the moment, it will be faster than the current M5 Performance, which has a 0-100 km / h sprint time of 3.3 seconds.
