NEW DELHI: BMW over the years has been making slow moves towards sustainable mobility, but the new iX3 is a big step for the automaker when it comes to electric mobility. The iX3 is the first fully electric car offered by BMW and also extends the automaker’s X SUV lineup. BMW will now take on the more established players in the electric market such as Tesla, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

1. The “power of choice” approach: This new approach from the German automaker enables customers to choose the perfect fit based on their needs. The iX3 will be offered with conventional gasoline and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid powertrain and also a fully electric powertrain.

2. Fifth generation BMW eDrive technology: The iX3 has a lot of progress in terms of power density, range, weight and flexibility. The power density has increased by almost 30% compared to its predecessors. The new eDrive electric motor manages to produce 289 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The SUV can register from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds and offers a top speed of 180 km / h.
3. Rank without compromises: The energy density of the high-voltage battery increases by 20% with the new eDrive technology and that results in an operating range of up to 460 km (WLTP rating), while the SUV’s NEDC rating is 520 km.

The sound theme, Impressive, has been developed in collaboration with Hans Zimmer and plays every time the SUV is started or the electric powertrain is deactivated.

5. Ultra-fast charging: The optimized energy storage concept now enables a vehicle charging capacity of up to 150 kW in DC fast charging stations. The SUV can charge from 0 to 80% in 34 minutes. A minimum 10 minute DC charge adds 100km of range to the car.

6. BMW Live Cockpit Professional: The e-SUV is loaded with this progressive feature that takes the cabin experience to a whole new level. The iX3 is equipped with a cloud-based navigation system, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, remote software updates and digital services from BMW Connected Charging.
