Black Ops Cold War players complain about Dark Matter challenges

The most exclusive camouflage of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is Dark Matter Ultra. The highest level in multiplayer, this skin is what every player wants for their weapons. Dark Matter Ultra, a purple / blue animated camouflage, typically takes users a large amount of time to unlock. Requiring players to get gold camouflage on each weapon is no easy task. However, unlike in years past, the community is having a hard time unlocking the golden camo for certain weapon classes. The problem is to the point where players beg Treyarch to make some adjustments to particular challenges in Black Ops Cold War – the challenges of Dark Matter.

Dark Matter challenges are a problem in Black Ops Cold War

To summarize how camouflage unlocks work Black Ops Cold War, you essentially need to rate each weapon to the max level. As you do this, you unlock seven categories of skins that feature five camouflages each. To unlock each camouflage within a category, you must complete stages of the same task.

For example, in the SMG category, the Geometric category requires you to earn 5th Longshot medals. Once you earn all the camouflages for a weapon, the gold is unlocked. To win Dark Matter, this must be done with each weapon in multiplayer.

While this is definitely a routine, no matter how you look at it, some of the required challenges are extremely difficult to complete. One Reddit user summed up his experience with some of these more difficult tasks.

Treyarch, you NEED to change up some of these camo challenges! by blackopscoldwar

As for the first example provided, this rifle challenge is simply broken. Enemies must be in the perfect position for kills to count. Also, players don’t like having to rely on enemy positions to earn camouflages.

The following examples are for launchers and submachine guns. In short, earning bloodthirsty medals with a pitcher is not something that should be in the game. It is too difficult and promotes an anti-friendly style of play. When it comes to submachine guns, Treyarch should consider expanding the range of kills at point blank range. This sentiment is shared by many in the community.

Treyarch has been great listening to feedback in the past. However, it is not yet clear if there will be any changes to Dark Matter’s camouflage challenges.
