Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could have moved to another great club.

The Asturian has signed a new contract with City, which will keep him at the club for another two seasons.

The 49-year-old was also wanted in Barcelona by certain presidential candidates.

And the Spanish journalist Guillem Balague said BBC Radio 5 Live that Guardiola had offers from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

“There were offers from Juventus, Paris St-Germain and others, but he’s happy,” said Balague, a Spanish soccer writer.

“He has fun, is surrounded by trustworthy people, controls sports decisions and is happy that nothing that happens in the dressing room comes out, as it used to happen at Bayern and Barcelona.

“We all knew that Manchester City had put a deal on the table, we didn’t know how long it would last, and City was not going to put any pressure on him,” Balague added.

“In recent months, there have been stories about riots on the pitch, player agents knocking on doors to see what happens, just because they didn’t know if Guardiola was going to stay.

“But the decision makers at Manchester City have been very confident. The transition that started this summer, to a version two of Manchester City, with Guardiola, will continue next summer as well.”

“Most of the transition is done, but there is more to do. He feels there is room for improvement and he needed him to take care of it.”
