Atlético de Madrid have no plans to re-negotiate with Arsenal in the near future after the Gunners failed to notify the La Liga giants of their intention to activate the Thomas Partey buyout clause.

The 27-year-old completed a trade to Emirates on the day of the deadline, with Arsenal confirming the £ 45 million deal after the transfer window closed.

Partey’s termination clause means that Arsenal only needed to activate the clause and did not require negotiations with Atlético.

However, it is courteous to advise the club so they have time to prepare to sign a replacement or even make one last attempt to convince the player to stay.

But Athletic assures that Atlético is “furious” with Arsenal because they did not realize it and a source says that the association between the clubs is “irreparable.”

Reports in Spain claim that Arsenal activated the clause only 32 minutes before the deadline was closed.

Partey has more than quadrupled his salary by signing for Arsenal as he is set to make £ 250,000 a week at the club.

The Gunners also paid around £ 2 million to Ghanian’s representatives and had to pay the £ 45 million fee for Partey in a lump sum.

Lucas Torreira joined Atlético on the deadline, but the club does not have the option to sign the midfielder on their contract and they probably won’t bother now given the damage the deal with Partey has done.

Once salary and agent fees are taken into account, Partey’s four-year contract at the club will cost the Gunners around £ 91 million.
