ASUS released more than a dozen new Intel-powered PCs, an Intel Evo laptop

Intel isn’t having a great 2020 both in terms of business and image, and it’s not entirely the fault of COVID-19 alone. It had a great public relations success when Apple announced that its ARM-based Silicon would be coming to Macs, which served to magnify Intel’s much-discussed limitations when it comes to energy efficiency and mobility. Their answer is their 11th Gen Core processors and Intel Evo branding. Intel got their PC partners to back it up, and ASUS may have overshot no fewer than 13 new computers.

The star of the show, at least when it comes to the partnership with Intel, is the new ASUS ZenBook Flip S, its first Intel Evo laptop. That means it is guaranteed to be lightweight, as light as 1.2kg, without being a loser in performance. In addition to that 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics, the convertible laptop also features Intel Wi-Fi 6, Intel Thunderbolt 4, and support for an active stylus.

That’s not to say that the others in this 2020 lineup aren’t all that notable. The ASUS ZenBook 14, for example, is touted as the smallest laptop with a “second screen” ASUS ScreenPad. It may not be Intel Evo certified, but it has many of the same specs and even has an option for NVIDIA GeForce MX450 graphics.

However, it is not only about the latest processors from Intel, as ASUS also has new models with 10th generation Core CPUs. The ASUS Zen AIO, which comes in 24- and 22-inch sizes, features NVIDIA MX330 graphics and front-firing Harman Kardon speakers.

With Acer, Samsung, ASUS, and possibly more brands on the way, Intel is making a show of power, showing that it still has that clout in the market despite and despite all the odds. However, these new computers come at a time when the market is in a state of flux, where shipments, demand and supplies could change rapidly from quarter to quarter and it remains to be seen which of these Intel Evo laptops it will be making it big in the market.
