Highlight:
- According to NASA, an asteroid will approach Earth
- The distance of the asteroid 2020TG6 will be less than the moon
- Its size is very small, there is no risk of collision with the ground
The US space agency NASA (National Aeronautical and Space Administration) has confirmed that Asteroid 2020TG6 will pass through Earth on Sunday. It will also pass close to the distance between the Earth and the Moon. Its distance from earth will be only 85,519 miles. If a high-speed space object is expected to approach more than 46.5 billion kilometers from Earth, space organizations consider it dangerous.
No danger of collision
NASA’s Sentry system already monitors such threats. There are currently 22 such asteroids that have little chance of hitting Earth over the next 100 years. Asteroid 2020TG6 is unlikely to hit Earth. Even if it hits the ground, it won’t cause any damage. It is actually only 9.5 meters. This small asteroid turns to ash upon entering Earth’s atmosphere.
This can be a beautiful sight for photographers and astronomers. They actually start to burn when they hit the atmosphere and come out like fireballs. The fire and the gases that emanate from them look like tails and these shooting stars are extremely attractive. Apart from this, NASA itself will try to study much more than this.
What are asteroids?
Asteroids are rocks that revolve around the sun like a planet, but they are much smaller than planets. Most of the asteroids in our solar system are located in the asteroid belt that orbits Mars and Jupiter, that is, Mars and Jupiter. Apart from this, they rotate in the orbit of other planets and revolve around the planet and the sun. About 4.5 billion years ago, when our solar system formed, the clouds of gas and dust that could not take the shape of a planet and were left behind, were transformed into these rocks, that is, asteroids.
