This story is part of Apple event, our full coverage of the latest news from Apple headquarters.
Apple Macs are about to receive a brain transplant. Apple is expected to announce its next generation of computers on November 10. And unlike the desktop and laptop computers that have been sold for the past 14 years, these new computers will not work with a chip made by Intel. Instead, Apple will use one similar to the chips that power the iPhone and iPad.
While we know a few things about Apple’s new Mac computers, including that they will be able to run iPhone and iPad applications, there are still many questions. Among them, Apple hasn’t laid out exactly how fast its new chips are compared to a comparable Intel-powered computer. Apple has also not discussed what other changes it will make to its desktops and laptops, although they are expected to be more energy efficient.
In all, the Apple event promises to be interesting. It’s Apple’s third major product presentation this fall. And it’s online because of the coronavirus pandemic. There have been more than 46.8 million confirmed cases of the virus worldwide, and more than 1.2 million people have died from it. The event will also take place just one week after the controversial 2020 US presidential election.
While the Mac will be a key product at Apple’s event, and probably what most people focus their attention on, the company may have other devices to show off. These include new On-ear headphones from Apple brand called AirPods Studio, as well as the company Long-rumored AirTags beacons to find your lost keys, among other things. And on a long shot, a smart headphones, which Apple has yet to publicly discuss.
Apple’s online-only event follows the company’s announcements in September for your new iPads, Apple Watches, and Apple One subscription service, and in October for its HomePod Mini Smart Speaker and iPhone 12 Phone Series.
Apple’s online-only event will be on November 10 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET / 6 pm GMT, and on November 11 at 5 am AEDT. (Sorry Australia).

What can we expect
Apple’s digital events are fast-paced, but they’re also packed with information. And expect high production values. For the HomePod Mini ad, Apple built a fake multi-story house.
