Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup is yet to arrive and is expected to arrive sometime in October. A new leaker claims that the next entry-level 5.4-inch iPhone will be called the ‘iPhone 12 mini’. The leaker also claims that the phone that was initially thought to be called ‘iPhone 12 Max’ will simply be called ‘iPhone 12’.

With four new iPhones expected to arrive this year, Apple will have to come up with at least one new name for the line. Apple has used ‘mini in the iPad and Mac computer lines, and how can we forget about the iPod mini of ’04 and ’05? The two largest iPhones will likely retain the ‘Pro’ and ‘Pro Max’ suffixes (with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, supposedly) that have been used with the iPhone 11 lineup.

All Apple iPhone 12 models will miss 120Hz displays, says Ming-chi Kuo

Apple’s new iPhones come with 5G support and are powered by the company’s first chipset in the 5nm process: the A14. Based on early chipset benchmarks, the performance gains appear to be incremental, but they should produce better battery performance.

According to previous reports, all new iPhones will arrive with 60Hz refresh rate OLED displays and will come with smaller notches that will allow more status icons to fit on top. As the incoming Apple Watch Series 5 hints at, the new iPhone lineup may not include any charging accessories or EarPods in the box, which Apple says supposedly cuts down on e-waste.
