Apple Watch and HomePod users face iCloud issues

Apple is much more than the iPhone maker, the company has a large number of smart products such as smart watches and home appliances. Most of those smart products are connected through iCloud. The company’s cloud-based service provides security and seamless synchronization between devices. Unfortunately, the experience is not smooth for some new users. Apple Watch and HomePod users are reportedly facing activation issues on the platform. The problems seem to be on the server side as iCloud is probably getting a lot of traffic due to the ongoing holidays.

New Apple Watch SE and HomePod devices can’t sign in to iCloud

The report appeared in Macrumors. According to him, some users are facing “Verification Failed” on their new devices: Apple Watch and HomePod. One of the users claims that the purchased Apple Watch SE cannot go beyond the iCloud login process. Despite starting the pairing process with an iPhone, verification fails multiple times.

Apple has reportedly shown a solution that relies on restoring encrypted data. This tends to remove old data and passwords, which is not recommended. However, a user reports that their HomePod is stuck in the setup stage after several attempts. None of the solutions presented by Apple solve the problem for affected users.

Considering that these solutions are helping, we think the problem is on Apple’s server side. Upon closer inspection of Apple’s support page, we can see that the issue is still active. Apparently, the company still couldn’t fix it. The problem is to annoy users and prevent them from using their devices completely from December 25. This is a big problem when you buy a new device from Apple, as iCloud is a vital part of its ecosystem.

This is the second Apple Watch SE issue in a couple of days. According to a recent report, some users in South Korea experienced burns on their wrists due to overheating. Of course, only time will tell if it’s a major smartwatch issue or just something specific to the batch of devices shipped to South Korea.

As for the iCloud activation problem, we hope that Apple will find a way to fix the problem soon. After all, users don’t want to wait until next year to fully use their Apple Watches and HomePods.
