Apple and TikTok have banned the Vybe Together app, which allowed people to host and attend parties that could violate local COVID-19 rules, CNN reports.
Apple removed the app from the App Store. TikTok also closed the company’s account.
Vybe Together still has an Instagram account, which remains online. The account explained the ban in a new post to members wondering what happened to the app.
- “The App Store brought us down! We will be back !! ”The Instagram post said.
What does the application do?
- The Instagram account said that the application is used to “Find your vybe. Local wine nights, beer pong games and dancing at an apartment near you. “
- Currently, the app has a tagline that reads: “Fire up your rebel. Light your party. “
- The app has a post asking people to search for “local wine nights, beer pong games, and dancing at a nearby apartment.”
What else did the app say?
An app spokesperson told The Verge that the app was not created to encourage bad behavior during the pandemic.
“Vybe Together was (a minimum viable product) designed to help other people organize small gatherings in parks or apartments during COVID,” the spokesperson said. “We never threw big parties and we made an exaggerated marketing video that left the wrong impression on our intentions, which has since been removed. We do not tolerate large unsafe parties during a pandemic. “
