(Pocket-lint) – Apple is expected to finally make an announcement about its iPhone 12 launch event this week.
It’s expected to be a virtual event thanks to the pandemic, but Apple’s launch has long been rumored to be later than usual this year and while that might be the case, some have heard that at least one date will be revealed soon.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests we will hear about the iPhone 12 report imminently.
I wouldn’t get too excited about rumors about new Apple products coming this week. I think it’s more likely: An announcement of the upcoming (of course, virtual) September iPhone / Apple Watch event.

This followed an earlier tweet from analyst Jon Prosser, who claimed that a statement will be sent out tomorrow, September 8, but seemed to have the illusion that it could be for real products.
Apple’s press release is scheduled for Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00 am EST; however, I must point out that it is not blocked until the press has been informed on the day of.
I’ll tweet early that morning to update you if it changes.

In all likelihood, both could be correct, in a way. We think Apple will ship a release soon, but we have heard rumors that it could be for the iPad Air and Apple Watch Series 6, which will not be part of the main event as it will represent minor updates.
We also have the impression that Apple’s event will be October, not September, as Gurman said. And, if so, it would not be like Apple to announce it so soon. But of course, these are not normal times.
We’ll undoubtedly know more tomorrow when Apple’s launch arrives. Or not.
We will let you know more as we find out.
