In a press release on its developer website, Apple has announced that it will once again extend the deadline for apps to offer paid online events through the company’s in-app purchase system.

According to the statement, Apple extends the deadline for developers to make the necessary changes to their applications until June 30, 2021.

As the world fights COVID-19, we recognize that adapting in-person experiences to digital ones remains a top priority. Although apps are required to offer any paid online group event experiences (real-time one-to-few and one-to-many experiences) via in-app purchase as per App Store 3.1 review guideline .1, we temporarily defer this requirement with an original deadline of December 2020. To allow additional time to develop in-app purchase solutions, this deadline was extended to June 30, 2021.

The company also notes that real-time person-to-person events involving just two people may continue to offer additional payment methods.

Note that guideline 3.1.3 (d) allows applications that offer real-time person-to-person experiences between two people (for example, student tutoring, medical consultations, real estate tours, or physical training) to use methods purchase options other than those of the application. purchase.

The company had originally extended the deadline for this change in September after Facebook complained that it would negatively affect small businesses trying to survive during the pandemic.
