If you rushed out to buy a pair of AirPods Pro wireless earbuds when they launched in October 2019, and you didn’t buy AppleCare +, the warranty just ran out, unfortunately. But if your AirPods Pro don’t sound their best, Apple could still fix them for free.
Apple has launched the AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Problems, which covers all AirPods models manufactured before October 2020. According to the support page, “a small percentage of AirPods Pro may experience sound problems.” Apple says that affected models may have one of these problems:
-
Crackling or static sounds that increase in noisy surroundings, with exercise, or when talking on the phone
-
Active noise cancellation does not work as expected, such as a loss of bass or increased background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
To check if your AirPods Pro are covered by the program, you must take your headphones to an Apple store or Apple Authorized Service Provider or contact Apple Support for email options. The program covers affected AirPods Pro for two years after “unit’s first retail sale.”
