Apple AirPods Max Shows Condensation Issues Near Controllers, Some Users Report

Apple AirPods Max users report an issue with condensation, where water droplets form under the removable ear pads near the controllers. The high-end headphones, recently launched and priced at Rs. 59,900 in India, they seem to be particularly susceptible to this condensation problem due to the premium design, particularly the liberal use of metal which is considerably cool to the touch compared to headphones that use a fair amount of plastic in construction. While one particular user provided details about the issue along with pictures, others have responded that they are facing similar issues as well.

A significant report comes from user Donald Filimon, who provided details of the condensation issues along with images on Twitter and Reddit. The images show the AirPods Max space gray color variant with the ear pads removed and water droplets visible inside, close to the leads. The user reports that they have used the headphones in non-humid environments (mainly indoors) and the water droplets are causing ear detection problems in the headphones.

The Twitter and Reddit threads have multiple user responses reporting similar issues, suggesting that the issue is not an isolated incident. This is particularly concerning given the high price of the headphones. At Rs. 59,900, AirPods Max are among the most expensive top options available today, and issues like these are causing serious concern for buyers who have paid full price.

According to a report by Cult Of Mac, this is likely sweat from users’ ears. Although sweat condensation inside the earbuds is a fairly common problem due to the snug over-ear fit, the issue here is primarily about the AirPods Max’s ability to actually handle these amounts of sweat or moisture. That said, it shouldn’t be too difficult to periodically wipe the moisture off with a soft cloth, but that’s assuming it doesn’t get into the controllers and cause serious damage.
