Animal Crossing: New Horizons to Have Fun on Halloween and Amiibo Cards Reprinted

Nintendo announced today that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween event will begin on September 30 via a free update. It will also reprint more of those elusive Amiibo cards.

New Horizons has been Nintendo’s big hit of the year. Since its release for Switch in March, the social simulator has sold more than 22 million copies. Free updates and seasonal events like these give those players a reason to keep playing.

And the Amiibo cards will give them something to buy. By tapping these cards on your Switch, you can unlock game content. For New Horizons, that means inviting specific villagers to your island. The Animal Crossing Amiibo cards debuted in 2015 alongside the 3DS Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game, but became a hot item for New Horizons fans looking for an easy way to bring their favorite villagers to their cities.

Now they can buy them new instead of going to eBay.

The Halloween event will have players growing pumpkins, creating spooky DIY costumes and furniture, and collecting candy. It will be the game’s biggest seasonal event since Bunny Day drowned us in eggs in April. With the pandemic still going on, this may be the best way to have fun this year with the Halloween tradition.
