Online activities in Animal Crossing: New Horizon are currently inactive. The problem seems to have started around 1:00 p.m. ET and almost three hours later, as of this writing, the issue is not fixed and there is no information on when things will work again.
When you try to access another player’s island online, open your doors for others to visit, or get a friend code from DHL Airlines, players everywhere get error code 2219-2502.
According to the Nintendo support document, the error code 2219-2502 “indicates that an error occurred while connecting to the service, probably the result of a temporary interruption of the service or a high volume of user access.”

It’s not just Animal Crossing, either. Nintendo is having a network wide server problem right now. Nintendo recently tweeted the current status of its online services.

It seems that online gaming is out of the question. All we can do is wait for Nintendo to fix the problem, which we hope will be soon. I have some parties to attend.
