Despite its original release in 2018, there is no denying that 2020 has been a great year for Among Us. The imposter-style online game jumped to the top of the charts in 2020, both in its number of players and those watching through services like Twitch. While the game was only available on PC and mobile devices for most of 2020, the game recently came out on Switch, and it looks like Xbox is next.
In making the announcement on its blog, Microsoft revealed that Among Us will be “Coming [in] 2021 to Xbox Game Pass for console ”. Those on PC don’t need to wait though, as the game is now available for Game Pass on PC.

In providing more details, Microsoft explained that “Among Us is coming to [Xbox Game Pass] the first day of availability of the Xbox console ”, although an exact date was not given. During the most recent Nintendo Indie World Showcase, it was announced that Among Us would be coming to Switch. Following this most recent announcement, PlayStation is the only major platform that doesn’t see the game coming to its system, although this could always change.
It cannot be denied that part of the success of Among Us can be attributed to the fact that many countries are suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to an increase in video game consumption. It will be interesting to see if the game’s developers (Innersloth) manage to hold people’s attention in 2021 and beyond.
