As AMD prepares to launch Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards next month, the company has posted additional benchmarks showing how GPUs fare compared to Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series.
You can find the benchmarks on this AMD webpage, which lists performance across 10 PC games, including 2019’s Doom Eternal, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and Resident Evil 3.
AMD produced the results in the company’s own laboratories. So you should take them with a grain of salt. However, the website offers a convenient overview of the performance of the cards. For example, it allows you to switch between 4K and 1440p benchmarks. It will also tell you what graphics settings were used and if DirectX 12 or the Vulkan API was enabled.
The other interesting factor is how the benchmarks were produced in a PC unit running AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9 5900X CPU, which goes on sale on November 5. AMD’s exclusive intelligent access memory technology, which can further boost gaming performance, has also turned on the benchmark.
Here are some of the benchmarks; As you can see, AMD’s RX 6000 series is not always ahead in frames per second. An obvious example is Division 2. Nvidia’s RTX 3090 and 3080 cards outperform the trio of AMD products.
In other games, such as Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4, and Battlefield V, the Radeon RX 6000 series performs better. However, the benchmarks can also be toggled to measure performance in “FPS per dollar”, which is where AMD graphics cards can really shine, thanks to their lower retail prices compared to the $ 1,499 RTX 3090 and The $ 699 RTX 3080.
Still, there is an obvious hole in the scores. AMD was unable to test the cards with Nvidia’s RTX 3070, which went on sale yesterday. Although it has similar performance to the RTX 2080 Ti, the product’s $ 499 price tag makes it the most affordable next-gen GPU between the two companies.
Meanwhile, AMD graphics cards will start at $ 579 with the RX 6800 and then at $ 649 with the RX 6800 XT. Both will go on sale on November 18.
