Customers who bought Apple’s AirPods Max earbuds minutes after device sales went live last week are now getting their orders, while those unlucky enough to get a unit on launch day can find one. at a nearby Apple Store.
Like any major Apple product launch, early adopters in Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia are turning to social media to report on AirPods Max delivery. The high-end accessory is on time, and day one units are promised for December 15.
Freelance journalist Alice Clark posted a couple of snapshots with a Space Gray model, showing the design and finish of the headphones. Their first impressions reflect those of the media reviews, who constantly touted the level of comfort Apple managed to achieve with a mesh “canopy” headrest, soft-touch material, and memory foam ear cushions.
“They are incredibly comfortable, but I haven’t had a chance to fully test any of the features,” Clark said in a cheep. “But so far they are the most comfortable ears I have ever had.”
Apple stores in Australia have limited stocks available on launch day. The silver version appears to be available at most Apple outlets, while the Space Gray model is currently limited to select locations. Green, sky blue, and pink color options are hard to come by, though Apple may update its inventory in the coming days.
Currently, AirPods Max are not available for pickup at Apple stores in Japan, where the stores only opened on December 15.
Announced in a press release last week, AirPods Max is a highly anticipated Apple-branded over-ear headset that combines the company’s signature minimalist style with cutting-edge technology. Sensors and microphone arrays packed inside the two earbuds inform two Apple-designed H1 chips for active noise cancellation and advanced operations like Spatial Audio. Priced at $ 549, AirPods Max is Apple’s most expensive AirPods product to date.
