As of September 9, confirmed COVID-19 cases in 55 African countries have reached 1,314,378. Reported deaths in Africa have reached 31,747 and recoveries to 1,051,093.
South Africa has the highest number of reported cases: 640,441, with 15,086 deaths. Other countries most affected are Egypt (100,228 cases), Morocco (75,721), Ethiopia (60,784), Nigeria (55,456) and Algeria (46,938).
Figures are compiled by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions, as well as national and regional public health departments.
