Kabul, November 21: Abdullah Abdullah, head of the Higher Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul, during which they discussed the Afghan peace process, the Doha talks and relations bilateral.
During Friday’s meeting, Erdogan said his country supports the peace process in Afghanistan and that the two countries have time-tested relationships strengthened by common values and culture, reports TOLO News.
Erdogan added that Turkey wants an end to violence in the country.
Abdullah said that relations between the two countries are based on common values and will remain as such.
He highlighted Turkey’s role in Afghanistan’s problems, its active presence to ensure security, its economic and cultural assistance, and the Istanbul process, according to the statement.
Abdullah said Afghanistan wants Turkey’s continued support for the country’s efforts to achieve lasting peace.
Abdullah traveled to Turkey this week as part of his regional tour to strengthen the regional consensus on Afghan peace.
During the last month, he visited India, Pakistan, Iran and Uzbekistan.
