ADLINK Technology Inc., a world leader in cutting-edge computing, has launched its first compact eight-core COM Express Type 6 module with the new AMD Ryzen ™ V2000 AP with integrated Radeon ™ graphics, the cExpress-AR.
With twice the number of cores, the cExpress-AR is well suited for use in demanding graphics-based applications such as:
- Ultrasound imaging
- High speed 4K video encoding and streaming
- Integrated games and infotainment
- AI inferences at the edge
“The AMD Ryzen ™ V2000 APU has a high-performance graphics computing core that makes it ideal for use in AI inference applications without the need for an additional GPU. This is one of the ways that cExpress-AR helps reduce the overall cost of the system, “said Alex Wang, COM Express Product Manager at ADLINK. “Compared to previous integrated quad-core V1000 processors, the additional cores combined with AMD’s Zen 2 architecture double the performance and efficiency.”
The cExpress-AR is the first Type 6 module on the market to support an integrated eight-core (8-core) SoC, with up to 16 threads and an impressive turbo boost of up to 4.2 GHz. Processor options include low-power APUs of 8-core / 6-core with a configurable TDP between 10 and 25 watts and high-performance 8-core / 6-core APUs with a configurable TDP between 35 and 54 watts.
ADLINK’s cExpress-AR is also suitable for mission critical applications in harsh environments, featuring:
- Standard support for up to 64 GB DDR4 in two SO-DIMMs
- ECC error correction based on selected SKUs and configurable TDP (up to 10W)
- Passive cooling
- 6 to 8 main offers
With next-generation AMD Radeon Vega integrated graphics, the cExpress-AR supports up to four independent 4K displays via DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, and LVDS. ADLINK also offers eDP or analog VGA as build options upon customer request. 10-bit HEVC (H.265) encoding and decoding also supports built-in hardware acceleration.
The cExpress-AR offers a wide range of high-speed interfaces, including 2.5 GbE Ethernet that is fully compatible with 1 GbE, 6 PCIe x1 Gen3 lanes (optionally, up to 8 possible lanes), and 1x PCIe x8 Gen3 (pinned PEG), and 4 USB 3.2 ports. These features are fully compliant with the COM Express Rev. 3.0 specification, allowing existing systems to upgrade and gain performance without changing the carrier design.
