The actor was in a priority group to receive the Pfizer vaccine in the UK
Ian McKellen is grateful and delighted to have been able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The 81-year-old actor was among the first eligible groups of people to receive the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in the UK on Wednesday.
Then he tweeted that he had a great experience.
“I feel very lucky to have had the vaccine. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone,” he wrote on Twitter.
After receiving the injection, the “X-Men” and “Lord of the Rings” actor also recommended that others do their “two cents for society” and get vaccinated as well.
“I would encourage everyone to do the sensible thing, not just for themselves but for everyone else, because if you’re virus-free that helps everyone else, doesn’t it?” he said in an interview with iTV News.
The Pfizer vaccine comes in two doses, with the second being given 21 days after the first. At the time, McKellen said she hopes she can avoid social distancing and give a hug.
“Next time I come, well no, six days after I come, I’m going to give everyone a big hug. Is it allowed? I don’t know,” he said.
