Aaron Wan-Bissaka says facing Marcus Rashford day after day in Manchester United training is good for his development as a player.
Some eyebrows arose over the £ 50 million fee United paid for Wan-Bissaka to take him from Crystal Palace last summer, and the 22-year-old had only played 46 high-level games at the time of his move.
But lingering doubts about United’s decision to pay that sum have long since passed, and the young Englishman consistently shows up during his first season at Old Trafford to become a favorite among fans.
United supporters have praised Wan-Bissaka’s tackling ability and defensive position as he has made the right-back position his own, and says that facing Rashford has helped him develop.
When a United fan asked in a Q&A on the club’s website who his toughest opponent was in training, Wan-Bissaka said: “I would say Marcus, yes.
“He is so unpredictable. When I joined United and ran into him in training, he was doing things that I really didn’t expect.”
“I thought he would go a certain way and go the other way, or I thought he was about to do one thing and did another, so it’s very difficult to play against him.”
“However, I enjoy that; it has been really good for my own development to test myself against him and the other attackers we have at the club.”
Wan-Bissaka was also asked who he believed to be fastest between Rashford and Daniel James mercury attackers, but gave a diplomatic response.
“I would say that at short distances it is Marcus, but at longer distances it is Daniel,” he said.
“They are both fast!”
