We are getting closer to the digital-only event recently announced by Apple, and as expected, rumors about upcoming Apple devices have started to appear more frequently. We have recently received rumors that the notch on future iPhone models will be reduced in size, but not specifically on the iPhone 12 line. A recent report also says that Apple is making room in its Apple Stores for the new HomePods and AirPods Studios. . However, the latest rumor about Apple’s smart speaker reveals some pretty interesting information about what we can get next Tuesday, including a possible HomePod mini.
Apple is still preparing a few things ahead of its next event which is scheduled for October 13, where we will probably see the launch of the new iPhone 12 lineup, consisting of a 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini, two 6.1-inch iPhone 12s , and an iPhone 12 Pro, and a high-end 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, these devices could arrive with an iPad Pro update, along with new on-ear headphones, which we’ll call AirPods Studio, and a new Apple HomePod. Rumors suggest that we are getting a smaller, less expensive version of the HomePod, which some believe may be the second generation of Apple’s smart speaker. Still, the information published by the leaker L0vetodream tells us that we are getting a new HomePod mini, rather than a HomePod Gen 2.

Now Apple has started allowing its employees to buy up to 10 speakers at a 50 percent discount, suggesting the company is trying to clean up inventory ahead of the launch of the new mini HomePod. This could mean that Apple might even be considering “selling the current HomePod alongside the smaller, more affordable version, but it may reduce future supply orders for the premium model, which apparently hasn’t sold very well.”
This new smart speaker is believed to be able to arrive with just two tweeters to help cut costs. The normal version comes with seven tweeters, suggesting a significant difference in volume and sound. But now we’ll have to wait and see if this new HomePod mini can compete with the new Google Nest and Amazon Echo speakers, which recently saw a very good update.
