When it comes to the Football Manager Wonderkids, Liverpool has been blessed with some of these extremely talented youngsters over the years and that has continued in the last issue.
At Football Manager 2020, players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Rhian Brewster, Ki-Jana Hoever, and Curtis Jones are some of the club’s most talented young players, who have the potential to be world-class.
It could be argued that Alexander-Arnold has already reached that stage in real life, but with the latest update to FM2020 in February, the capacity of the full-back could be greatly improved in the next edition of the game.
But what happened to some of Liverpool’s child wonderland of yesteryear? Like Emiliano Insua, Krisztian Nemeth, Krisztián Adorján and Samed Yesil?
We’ve taken a look at some of the club’s most promising youngsters over the years and what happened to them.
Emiliano Insua
Position: Full back
Nationality: Argentinian
Liverpool appearances: 62
Insua was a very promising left back, who made 62 surprisingly high appearances for the Reds. The Argentine left Anfield in August 2011, joining Sporting CP in a permanent agreement.
Since then he has had a very decent career, going to Atlético de Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, VfB Stuttgart and more recently LA Galaxy.
Danny Wilson
Position: Central defense
Nationality: Scottish
Liverpool appearances: 2
Wilson actually came through the youth system in Rangers, but Liverpool caught him when he was just 19 years old after emerging as a promising talent.
He had won the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year award in his previous season, and great things were expected of him, and Football Manager 2011 had him as a star of the future.
Loan periods followed in Blackpool, Bristol City and Hearts, before joining the Scottish club permanently in 2013.
He returned to the Rangers in 2015, before joining the Colorado Rapids MLS team in 2018, where he still plays today, at age 28.
Suso
Position: Attacking midfielder
Nationality: Spanish
Liverpool appearances: 14
Suso joined Liverpool in 2010 at just 17 years old, after going through the youth system on the Spanish side of Cádiz.
He would become a regular on the Reds’ reserve side, showing off his enormous potential.
He was loaned to the La Liga team, Almería, in 2013, where he began to show some real form, making 33 appearances.
AC Milan took the midfielder away in January 2015, after failing to obtain the necessary playing time at Anfield, with the preference of Lazar Markovic, Jordan Ibe and Raheem Sterling.
After a successful loan period in Genoa in 2016, Suso returned to Milan and had real success in Italy, becoming one of the most wanted midfield talents in the country.
The Spanish joined Sevilla on an 18-month loan contract in January 2020, where he has made eight appearances so far.
Jack hobbs
Position: Central defense
Nationality: English
Liverpool appearances: 2
Hobbs signed with Liverpool from Lincoln City at age 17, battling Arsenal and Tottenham Hotpur’s interest in his signature.
There were high hopes for the defender. However, after the loan periods in Scunthorpe and Leicester City, Hobbs permanently signed for Leicester in 2009.
Since then he has played for Hull City, Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers. He still plays at Reebok Stadium at age 31.
Lauri Dalla Valle
Position: Ahead
Nationality: Finnish
Liverpool appearances: one
Dalla Valle was one of the best forwards in his age group when he joined Liverpool in 2008.
He scored eight goals in the FA Youth Cup in 2009, including four against the city of Birmingham in the semifinals.
But Dalla Valle eventually joined Fulham in 2010, along with Alexander Kačaniklić, as part of the deal that caused fullback Paul Konchesky to move to Anfield.
From here, his career went downhill very quickly.
He moved to Bournemouth, Dundee United, Exeter, Crewe, Molde, Sint-Truiden, Crewe (again) and Zemun, before officially retiring at age 27 to focus on his photography business.
Florent Sinama Pongolle
Position: Ahead
Nationality: French
Liverpool appearances: 38
The French striker joined Liverpool in 2001 after being named the tournament’s best player at the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship. He was also named top scorer in the competition with nine goals.
However, he was returned to his old club Le Havre for another two years to continue his development.
Despite having enormous potential, Sinama Pongolle failed to impress Anfield, although he would be part of the team that won the Champions League.
He finally joined the Spanish team Recreativo in 2006, before playing for players like Atlético de Madrid, Sporting CP, Zaragoza, Saint-Etienne, FC Rostov, Chicago Fire, Lausanne-Sport, Dundee United and the Thai League team. Chainat Hornbill.
He joined the French team Saint-Pierroise in January 2019, before retiring midway through the 2018/19 campaign.
Anthony Le Tallec

Le Tallec was signed in the same period as Sinama Pongolle after playing in the same tournament of the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship, with Le Tallec winning the second-best player award.
The highlight of the Frenchman’s career at Liverpool was when he started as a forward in the Champions League quarterfinals against Juventus, and the Reds won the tournament that year.
Sadly, Le Tallec’s Reds career had peaked. He left in 2008 to join Le Mans, before playing for Auxerre, Valenciennes, Atromitos, Astra Giurgiu and Ligue 2 on the side of the US Orléans. USA
His current club is the French amateur team Annecy FC, with whom he signed in September 2019.
Dani Pacheco
Position: Ahead
Nationality: Spanish
Liverpool appearances: 5 5
Pacheco was looted from the Barcelona league giants in 2007, in what was considered a major blow to Liverpool.
With dazzling skills, excellent technique, and a killer instinct, the Spaniard had the world at his feet.
However, his career at Anfield never took off.
He failed to impress during loan periods in Norwich, Atlético de Madrid and Huesca, before being sold to AD Alcorcón in 2013.
He would then play for Real Betis, Alavés and Getafe before settling in for Málaga in the Second Division.
Krisztian Nemeth
Position: Ahead
Nationality: Hungarian
Liverpool appearances: 0 0
Liverpool launched to sign this young striker in 2007 when, at just 17 years old, Nemeth scored 18 goals in 37 games for the Hungarian team MTK Hungaria.
However, injuries reduced his initial career, and loan periods at Blackpool and AEK Athens were unsuccessful.
He finally joined Olympiacos permanently in 2010, before playing for MTK Budapest, RKC Waalwijk, Roda JC, Sporting Kansas City, Al-Gharafa, New England Revolution, and Sporting Kansas City. It was last seen on the Slovak side FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda.
Krisztián Adorján
Position: Ahead
Nationality: Hungarian
Liverpool appearances: 0 0
However, Adorjan joined the Reds in 2009, but never made a first appearance on the team for the club.
The striker joined the Dutch team Groningen on loan in 2013, before leaving Anfield permanently in 2014 for the Italian team Novara. Since then he has played for clubs like FK Partizani, Dundalk and more recently, series B Virtus Entella.
Now 27, he has scored just seven goals in his professional career.
Jerome Sinclair

Sinclair was a very promising striker at the West Bromwich Albion academy, before Liverpool caught him in 2011 at the age of 14.
But despite being a true wonder boy in his early years, Sinclair has struggled to meet the enormous expectations on his shoulders.
After making two appearances for the Reds, Sinclair joined Watford in 2016, but after just a few appearances, the forward has been sent on four successive loan deals, in Birmingham City, Sunderland, Oxford United and most recently VVV Venlo. . In 48 high-level appearances, Sinclair has scored six goals and is still only 23 years old.
Samed Yeşil

Nationality: German
Liverpool appearances: 0 0
Yesil joined Liverpool in August 2012 as a striking standout prospect, after being an incredible scorer with Bayer Leverkusen’s youth teams. But his development took a big hit after suffering two injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament in his time at Anfield and he was finally released in 2016.
The 25-year-old is now performing for the Turkish second division team, Ankara Demirspor.
