Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix will star in a BBC documentary on racism.
The search Following in the footsteps of bandmate Jesy Nelson, who released ‘Odd One Out’ last year, the singer will explore topics like colorism and the effect it has on society.
A source told a tabloid newspaper: “Leigh-Anne has spoken openly about racism in society and BBC Three wanted her to join her to see if she spoke to them about it.
“The documentary will open the eyes of those who may not have been aware of issues such as colorism, the harmful treatment of people of the same race depending on the color of their skin.
“This show is not about Leigh-Anne’s personal experience. It is more of a deep dive into the issues and you will see her exploring the effect and impact they have on society at large.”
Leigh-Anne has spoken about her personal experiences of racism in the past.
Last year, he revealed that he faced difficulties in Little Mix’s early days and said he felt “replaceable.”
Opening up to Rollacoaster magazine, he said, “I definitely feel like it has taken me a long time to feel completely comfortable in the skin I’m on.
“Unfortunately we live in a society that is embedded in racism and I just hope that by talking about my personal experience, I can help raise awareness about this screwed up situation.
“I really felt invisible and replaceable for a considerable amount of time within the band. But I really think that as the years go by, I’m starting to have more and more.
“I’ve always been proud of who I am, but maybe for a while I forgot how special and powerful that is.
“Being black is powerful, being black is beautiful and I am ready to scream at the world.”
