It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has been through various regulatory agencies in Asia, which has revealed the kind of battery capacity that we can expect from the foldable phone that will launch this year.
SamMobile has seen a glimpse of the relevant paperwork and found that a larger and smaller battery will be combined within the foldable phone to deliver a total battery capacity of 3,300 mAh.
That’s exactly the same as the battery capacity of the original Samsung Galaxy Z Flip that launched in February 2020, but assuming Samsung has managed to implement some optimizations under the hood, the battery life should be better overall.
Unfortunately, the documentation that SamMobile has seen doesn’t reveal other spec details, and as with any leak, don’t take it official just yet, but now we at least have an idea of the Galaxy’s battery capacity. Z Flip 3.
Great flipping
The 3,300 mAh battery inside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is enough to get you through a day, but no more than that, as we explained in our review. It has to illuminate both the main 6.7-inch screen and the smaller 1.1-inch screen on the back.
Don’t panic, because you haven’t missed the Galaxy Z Flip 2. The rumor is that Samsung will count the 5G iteration of the foldable as the second edition, and jump straight to 3 to line it up with the Samsung Galaxy. Z Fold 3 which will also be delivered this year.
Given that the original was released in February 2020 and these regulatory filings have only just appeared, it appears that the arrival of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could be imminent, although analysts have been predicting a release later in the year.
One of the rumors we’ve heard is that the outdoor display could get bigger, increasing to 3 inches from corner to corner. We’ll have to wait and see to know for sure, but that would put additional pressure on the battery inside as well.
