Rare copy of ‘Super Mario Bros’ breaks auction records

This specific copy occurred sometime between the console’s US launch in mid-to-late 1986, when Nintendo added its trademark symbol to the boxes in early 1987.

The limited time frame of the print also makes it extremely rare, in addition to its near-pristine factory-sealed condition. According to the auction listing, in July 2020, a 9.4 Wata-rated copy of Super Mario Bros. sold for £ 82,000 ($ 114,000) breaking records at the time.
