Mohamed Salah is in line to play for Egypt for the first time in nearly two years after he was called up to the team for their upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Having last played for The Pharaohs at the African Cup of Nations in July 2019, Salah then missed out on playing for his country for various reasons, notably outages stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Egypt will play Kenya and Comoros on March 25 and 29, respectively, in their bid to reach the top continental competition for the 25th time.
Egypt leads Group G with eight points of goal difference with Comoros, who are second. Both teams only need one point to qualify from the group. Kenya is third with three points, while Togo supports the table with one point.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old was also named Liverpool Player of the Month in February after scoring three goals in the club’s six games during the month.
It’s the third month in a row that the extreme talisman has won the award and he said it was a “nice feeling” to get it again.
“It’s a good feeling and I’m happy with our latest results so I hope we can keep winning,” Salah told the Liverpool media team.
“I don’t want to just talk about my season because we play as a team, so I would say it’s a tough season for everyone and we just have to move on and try to win games.
“I just want to thank you very much for voting for me. We are going to give our 100 percent to win the next matches and hopefully we can do it and do it well in the Champions League as well ”.
